About the Attorney

Lerae Funderburg

Founder & Managing Attorney, Culture Kept Legal

B. Lerae Funderburg is an intellectual property attorney who helps experts protect and commercialize the ideas, brands, methodologies, and creative assets their businesses are built upon.

With more than 15 years of experience across intellectual property, entertainment, business transactions, trademarks, copyright, licensing, publishing, and creative industries, Lerae approaches intellectual property as more than a registration exercise.

Her work begins with more fundamental questions:

  • What have you created?
  • Who owns it?
  • How should it be protected?
  • And how can the business grow without unnecessarily giving away the value, ownership, or control behind it?

Today, her practice focuses particularly on expert-led businesses whose knowledge has evolved into proprietary methodologies, signature frameworks, educational programs, certifications, curricula, content, and valuable brands.

Her experience representing creators and businesses in industries where ownership, licensing, attribution, control, and commercialization matter provides the foundation for Culture Kept Legal’s approach to protecting the expert economy.

Throughout her career, Lerae has served hundreds of clients across trademark, copyright, entertainment, contract, licensing, and business matters, including work protecting intellectual property supporting six- and seven-figure brands and structuring high-value agreements for clients across entertainment, media, wellness, and entrepreneurship.

Lerae is licensed in California, Georgia, and the District of Columbia and represents trademark clients nationwide before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Experience Built Beyond the Application

Lerae’s trademark counsel is informed by more than the registration process. Over the course of her career, she has advised clients on the contracts, licensing relationships, entertainment transactions, ownership structures, and long-term planning that determine whether intellectual property can be successfully controlled, monetized, and preserved.

That experience allows Culture Kept Legal to evaluate a trademark as part of the business behind it—not as an isolated government filing.
